Methods : Subjects were 154 elderly users of one senior's recreation center and one day service center. The researchers performed observations of foot condition and interviews using an original survey form. Results : Among the subjects, 20-40% had \"hyperkeratosis\", \"ingrown toenail\" and \"callus\" that required specialist care. There was significant relation between \"cut a nail to the quick\", \"hyperkeratosis\", \"callus\", \"corn\" and [foot-care customs], [intentional care practices], and [interest in guidance for foot care]. Conclusions : Elderly people have a lot of foot troubles that can be an improved through self management. Therefore, it is necessary for medical institutions to provide concrete guidance including consultations. Moreover, the elderly people who had trouble with toenails tended to have high care needs.
