The present study focuses on health-related issues among occupational workers, including aspects of the surrounding environment, such as working conditions, workplace interrelationships, and family issues. Methods : We identified 105 studies published in Japana Centra Revuo Medicina between 1982 and 2004 using the following key words : \"occupational health nursing\", \"occupational hygiene\", \"health control\", \"hygiene control\", and \"enterprise/entrepreneur\". Subsequently, the studies were subjected to a content analysis. Results : Most studies were performed quantitatively by researchers in educational institutions such as universities. Research was conducted in 11 fields, of which the following three accounted for approximately 80% of the studies : 1. General health and living situations of employees, entrepreneurs, and families; 2. Practice status of health control in enterprises; and 3. Associations between work content and occupational environments, and between general health and living situations. Conclusion : Further research may be required in order to develop health promotion programs and nursing support methods that maintain and promote the physical and mental health of occupational workers.
